Ribesaltes

The neighborhood is at a height of 1,100 m, on the southern slope of Puig Cornador (at 1,783 m) facing the sun. This hamlet, made up of a bunch of old country houses and farms, is a minor local entity dependent on Ribes de Freser. Like the rest of the hamlets in Vall de Ribes, this territory also belonged to the County of Cerdanya and the Bishopric of la Seu d’Urgell.
The hamlet’s stockbreeding richness meant, at that time, the emerging of agricultural and livestock exploitations which nowadays have fallen into disuse.
In the last few years, many of the old buildings have been restored and turned into second or holiday houses; this fact improved the image of the rural environment and helped preserve the country houses, which are now a hundred years old.
Ribesaltes is a privileged place due to the outlook it provides of Ribes de Freser, stretched along the river Freser.
To the east Pardines, the summit of Taga and Serra Cavallera can be spotted. Over the neighborhood, there is a small oak wood and some scything meadows; over them in Serra del Puig Cornador, the Scots pine grows in abundance and, in higher spots, the Mountain pine.

Annual Fiesta: first Sunday of August.
